MULTNOMAH HOTEL, PORTLAND, OREGON



Built in 1912 by local Portland aentrepeneur, Philip Gevurtz, the Multnomah Hotel was indeed, the grandest hotel in the Pacific Northwest. It's spacious 700 rooms graciously accomadated the likes of kings and queens, celebrities, and presidents. With its chandeliered ballrooms and marbled staircases, it quickly become the center of the Rose City social circle.

In 1962 the hotel closed and several government offices took brief occupancy. When the government moved there offices elsewhere, a new owner began restoring its grandiose style ... briefly dimmed but never faded, the new Embassy Suites Hotel evolved.
