Darlene Mohlsick

Born on June 2, 1942, passed away on January 14, 2004, of cancer at the age of 61. Darlene grew up in Sutherlin, Oregon, and lived in Douglas County most of her life. She was the daughter of John Chandler of Roseburg, Oregon and the late Rose chandler. She leaves behind five children, Joel Baker and his wife, Sheila of Baker City, Oregon; Carla Baker of Cheney, Washington; Toni Davis and her husband, Levi of Roseburg; Adam Mohlsick and his fiancee, Crystal Hopper of Beaverton, Oregon; Paul Mohlsick and his fiancee, Rosa Fernandez of Beaverton; nine grandchildren, Michael Baker; Brandi Baker; Kyle Brown; Andrew Davis, all of Roseburg; Shenae Duby; Abby Baker, both of Baker City; Meghan Stevens of Shelton, Washington; McKenzi Mohlsick; Nyomi Mohlsick, both of Beaverton. Darlene is also survived by her sister, Karen Kelley of Roseburg; brothers, David Chandler of Sandy, Oregon; Larry Chandler of Vancouver, Washington; and numerous other relatives and friends.

After graduating from Sutherlin High School, Darlene joined the Women's Army Corps (WAC) where she worked as a dental assistant from 1961 to 1964. After being discharged from the WAC she worked for the United States Post Office for several years. She later worked as a water and waste-water treatment plant operator in Roseburg, Riddle, Oregon and Oakland, Oregon. She also worked for the city of Canyonville, Oregon, as the Superintendent of Public Works. She retired from Merix Corporation in Forest Grove, Oregon, in 1999. Darlene also spent several years as a House of Lloyd Representative. Darlene dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She supported every facet of their lives as was a constant figure at all of their athletic events.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 813 SE Lane Ave., Roseburg. Memorial contributions may be made in Darlene's name to the Douglas County Cancer Services Committee located at 516 W. Umpqua St. in Roseburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to TAYLOR'S FAMILY MORTUARY in Winston, Oregon.
